About the Luthier
Hi, my name is Daniel Rohr. Originally from Pine River, MN, our family moved to Brainerd in 1976 where we were active in the community with retail Concessions in Downtown Brainerd and the Westgate Mall. My father was involved in the local and regional music scene where I had access to instruments at an early age which sparked my interest in guitars and introduced me to many people in the music community.
I’ve worked for Shar Music in Ann Arbor, Schmitt Music in Minneapolis and Roseville, and The Bridge of Harmony in Brainerd. Over the years, I’ve developed and improved my knowledge and abilities in offering quality guitar repairs and restorations.
Prior to The Bridge of Harmony, I worked with CTC in Brainerd and Baxter where I helped with the Help Desk and Service Assurance and then in Marketing where I developed skills in technical writing, social media, and copy writing.
I opened Minnesota Guitar Repair in August of 2022. I hold two certificates from Galloup School of Guitar Building and Repair for acoustic and electric guitar; the Journeyman and Technician program. I have been interested in guitar repair since 1990 when I lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was introduced to the world of instrument repair through the work of Dan Erlewine and the Stewart MacDonald catalogs that were available at a local music store. Since then, I’ve tinkered with my own instruments culminating into what I do today.
I’m always learning and growing in the Lutherie field and I look forward to meeting new challenges every day. Recently, I’ve moved my focus toward the boutique market in design and building. I take a careful and considered approach to the work. I feel privileged to support musicians in Northern and Central Minnesota.
I am a vocalist and bass player and write and record my own music. I have a strong background in computers and I help people with setting up recording technology. My hobbies include Road Biking and Disc Golf.
